What are the main chronic allergies?

International Chronic Allergy Day aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by individuals living with persistent allergic conditions. These conditions affect millions of people globally, limiting quality of life and requiring ongoing management. Chronic allergies are immune system reactions to allergens that can occur for long periods or even throughout life. Some of the main chronic allergies include:

Allergic Rhinitis: A reaction to dust mites, pollen, mould, or animal fur, causing sneezing and nasal congestion.

Allergic Asthma: Inflammation of the airways triggered by allergens, resulting in breathing difficulties.

Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema): A chronic skin condition linked to allergens or irritants, causing itching and inflammation.

Food Allergies: Reactions to foods such as milk, peanuts, shellfish, or wheat, with symptoms affecting the digestive system, respiratory system, or skin.

Chronic Urticaria: Skin rashes that reappear repeatedly, even without direct exposure to the allergen.

Allergic Conjunctivitis: Eye irritation caused by pollen, dust, or animal fur.

These allergies often require medical supervision to control symptoms and prevent complications.
